Resin Care 101: The Ultimate Guide to Caring for Your Resin Art

Resin Care 101: The Ultimate Guide to Caring for Your Resin Art

If you’ve ever shopped with us, you may have received our Resin Care Card. We designed these cards to give you simple instructions on how to care for your new resin piece. Our resin sculptures preserve flowers for years, and we know physical cards can get lost over time.

This post is our official Resin Care Guide, the digital version of our aftercare cards. We now have a place you can always return to and keep your home décor beautiful for years to come.

Resin Care Rules

Our physical care cards summarize the following guidelines for maintaining your piece:

Storage & Placement

  • Store resin sculpture(s) in a cool, dry place
  • Minimize contact with direct sunlight and avoid extreme heat

Resin has a glass-like surface, but it can negatively react to prolonged heat and sun exposure. Excessive sunlight over time causes discoloration, and high temperatures can temporarily soften the sculpture. Softening the resin can result in cracking the surface of the piece or breaking the entire sculpture.

Best places to display:

  • Living rooms - coffee tables, TV stands, and display cabinets
  • Bedrooms – nightstands, dressers, and vanities
  • Kitchens – counters, islands, and dinner tables
  • Entryways/hallways

Places to avoid:

  • Heat sources – near fireplaces, space heaters, or stoves
  • Direct sunlight – windowsills, cars, or sunrooms
  • Humid bathrooms and garages
  • Outdoors – permanent/long-term storage is not recommended.
    • Acceptable to display outdoors in moderation (less than 8 hours)

How to Clean Resin Art

Our resin sculptures are smooth, glass-like, and easy to maintain. Over time, dust and fingerprints can accumulate on the surface, reducing its signature shine.

Cleaning Steps:

1.      Spray a small amount of Windex or glass cleaner on your décor

2.      Wipe with a soft microfiber or lint-free cloth

Avoid using:

  • Isopropyl alcohol
  • Acetone
  • Harsh/corrosive cleaners
  • Abrasive sponges or paper towels

These substances can dull the shine, scratch the surface, and damage the piece over time.

Note: We include cleaning cloths with resin sculptures that are 3 inches or larger.

Resin Art Damage - Overheating

If your resin piece softens due to extreme heat, this is temporary and can be fixed with the following steps:

  • Place it in a cool or room-temperature area (indoors)
  • Allow it 3–24 hours to harden again (time depends on the extent of damage)

Once fully cooled, the resin sculpture will return to its original hardened state.

Note: surface cracks, scratches, or breakage will solidify permanently in the artwork.

Resin Art Damage – Scratches

Resin is highly durable and resistant to shattering under normal conditions. However, like glass or other high-gloss surfaces, it can be scratched if exposed to abrasive materials, sharp objects, or improper handling.

If your resin piece becomes scratched, please note the following:

• Minor surface scratches may be repairable depending on the depth and location of the damage
• Deep scratches or structural damage may not be fully reversible

Additional Care Tips We Recommend

To further protect your resin art and extend its lifespan, consider the following:

  • Avoid stacking heavy items on top of resin pieces
  • Handle preserved flower pieces with clean, dry hands
  • Dust regularly to prevent buildup
  • Do not submerge resin art in water

For flower preservation pieces, remember that while the resin protects the flowers, natural elements may subtly change tone over many years, which is completely normal.

Caring for Your Investment

Resin art is both decorative and meaningful. Whether it’s a sculptural statement piece, preserved flowers, or functional décor, proper care ensures your piece remains as stunning as the day you received it.

How Long Does Resin Art Last?

With proper care, our Art by Nisey products can last for at least 5 years and up to a lifetime. The high-quality epoxies that we use are durable and designed to withstand everyday display. Like any other luxury item, our resin pieces benefit from intentional care.

Our décor collections are built using a combination of premium resin, intentional pouring techniques, and detailed design processes to ensure longevity. The way your resin piece ages largely depends on its environment, physical placement, and cleaning habits.
